The Hobbit Part 3 shelved indefinitely

In a startling press conference held yesterday in the New Line Cinema studio in New Zealand Peter Jackson announced that the third part of  The Hobbit movie trilogy will be shelved indefinitely.

The reasons behind this is the under performance of The Desolation Of Smaug world-wide, and there are not enough funds to finish the last part titled “There and Back Again”. Even though all the scenes are already shot the CGI and visual effects would cost so much that it would simply not be cost-effective to edit the film now and premiere as expected in December 2014.

I hope that in about three years the technology needed to finish “There And Back Again” will be more cheap and even more advanced than today. I am sorry if we disappoint the fans, but the way it is, is the way it is. – Peter Jackson.

There is also a rumor that has been going round in Hollywood that Peter Jackson is very disappointed that The Hobbit didn’t won any Oscars this month and he is trying to make the last part a true masterpiece.

According to executive producers from New Line Cinema the earliest date the movie could be released is December 2017.
