The Falcon and The Winter Soldier Episode 2 recap with screencaps

The second episode of Marvel’s newest TV series was released today and is available for streaming on Disney+.

The title of the episode is “The Star-Spangled Man” and it gives us more into the life of John Walker, the new Captain America. The episode starts with him, preparing for a an interview in Good Morning America, on a football field, on home terrain.

Unlike episode one, this one had more humor and jokes, mainly through the interactions between Sam and Bucky, which included an intense conversation about what is the difference between a wizard and a sorcerer. This is probably a defining moment in the dynamic between the two for the remaining episodes as well.

The intro reminds a lot of another superhero tv show “The Boys”, as at this point the new Captain America deals a lot with singing posters, speeches, interview and all that a celebrity would do. But, personally, it also shows John Walker who is still having doubts about his new “job” and whether he will fulfill what is expected from him. We get to meet his sidekick as well, Lemar Hoskins.

Similar to episode one, action scene followed, starring Sam and Bucky who flew to Munich. Cool moments to watch out for is Bucky’s staring and what are the “Big Three”.

Introduction: Karli Morgenthau, the super soldier’s leader. She is suppose to be the villain, but there is a subplot developing regarding her keeping a secret from the rest of her crew, and I have a feeling she might not be as vile as she should be.

John Walker proves he can wield that shield quite deftly.

Coming back to America, Bucky takes Sam to visit a black super soldier, which leads to an altercation between the two, as Sam is angry because no one told him that there was a black super soldier decades ago. This part of the episode is throwing some light on racial issues.

After visiting Isaiah, Sam and Bucky are stopped by the police, who were asking an ID only from Sam, which was forgotten all about after the police officers remembered that they are avengers. It ended up bad for Bucky, he was arrested, for missing out a therapy session.

John Walker came through on this and bailed Bucky from jail, in an attempt to bond with Sam and Bucky, but those two are not willing to give in just yet.

As a condition for the release, Bucky and Sam must have a joint session with Dr. Raynor. Fun!

In the session, Bucky reveals that he holds a grudge over Sam giving up the shield, and that Steve would not want that.

In Slovakia, the Flag Smashers are on another run with the serum, and this time one of them sacrifices so they can escape from the authorities.

If anyone missed out, the Flag-Smashers believe that the world was better during The Blip. Karli in this episode holds a speech to her crew, warning them that “after tomorrow there is no coming back”.

The GRC care more about the people who came back than the ones who never left. We got a glimpse of how things could be.

For the episode’s end, Sam and Bucky decide that they need to talk to Zemo.
