Falcon and The Winter Soldier series finale review and hd screencaps

There it is, the Falcon and The Winter Soldier in full, ready for binge watching for anyone who waited out or for the ones that would like to watch it again without a week long breaks.

I am not sure how to start this review, as honestly I am feeling underwhelmed by the finale and put in perspective by the entire series. Some spoilers ahead!

Episode 6 review

The last episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is titled “One World One People” , the main villains’ moto. However, just in the first 10 minutes we realize how unfitting and weak the Flag-Smashers are to pose a real threat. The Falcon, now Captain America, helped by two super soldiers, Bucky and John Walker derailed any plan Karli had, without any serious efforts. Or at least the episode fails to show any imminent danger. Instead, the real threat seems to be the side stories, like the Power Broker.

There are also elements in the episode that do not connect to the rest of the series. One example for this is Karli’s and Falcon’s connection. While Sam did seem to have an understanding of Karli’s actions, throughout the series we do not see Karli giving back on this emotion, this makes the last scenes a little over the top and not entirely believable. There just wasn’t enough emotional baggage for the way it ended. Another example is how easy John Walker is welcomed to assist them, after what happened in episode 5, I did not expect such a “hey, nice of you to show up” development.

….and then, there was the speech, that was as Disney as it could get, felt awkward watching it. While Marvel heroes are not immune to such outbursts, Sam’s speech near the end was a little too patronizing and unreal.

The better parts of the episode on the other hand were:

  • Sharon Carter’s storyline.
  • Isaiah Bradley part.
  • Sam as Captain America with the winged suit and the shield.

The attack of the GRC voting assembly

Episode jumps in right in the action and does not stop until the epilogue. As mentioned above, the Flag-Smashers are either really weak or just did not put much effort into planning, as everything goes wrong for Karli from the very start. Although, as she says, she does not hope for much to come out of it, just to send a message.

The battle away from assembly

As Karli takes the hostages in sealed vans planing to use them for negotiation, Sam and Bucky go after them. Sam battles with the helicopters, while Bucky on the ground. Luckily John Walker appears (with his shield) and starts a fight with Karli, as Bucky is fighting the rest of the super soldier and tries to save the hostages in the van.

In the second part of battle near the harbor, Captain America faces of with Karli and missed Sharon’s confession that she is the Power Broker for only few minutes, as Sharon takes down Batroc.

The speech

With all his good intentions, moral and ethics, Captain America holds a brave speech in front of the senators and asks them to reconsider the displacement plans for the people that leave in GRC camps. All the while the cameras are rolling and his speech is seen on tv in real time. Not the best part of the episode :/.

Epilogue

In the epilogue of the series, we see a few happy endings. Zemo in the Raft, reading a book, Val finishes her recruitment process of John Walker, giving him a suit and a super hero name, U.S. Agent.

And the most important part, Isaiah Bradly getting a golden statue of him and a plaque with his story and his contribution for the country in the Captain America memorial center.

Lastly we see a celebration in Sam’s hometown with his friends and family, Bucky included. Oh yes, and Sharon Carter being pardoned.

One thing that remains unspoiled and strong in the entire series is Sam’s and Bucky’s character development and friendship.
