HBO will finish the Cohle-Hart detective story with the end of the first season of True Detective and start the new season with fresh characters and new cast, says show creator Nic Pizzolatto.
True Detective is a new HBO show starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as two detectives in Louisiana. Harrelson plays detective Hart who is down-to-earth simple men, while McConaughey plays the weird one, the obsessive detective Rustin Cohle. The series starts with both of them being interrogated by two other detectives about a murder that happened seventeen years ago. Clearly they are dealing with a mysterious serial killer even though the rest of the police is reluctant to believe it and they don’t. It’s all up to detective Cohle to solve the crime and catch the killer. Michelle Monaghan plays the wife of detective Hart.
True Detective is currently at episode seven of eight in the first season. Latest news is that Matthew McConaughey will not return for a second season, and according to a statement made by the show creator Nic Pizzolatto neither will Woody Harrelson as True detective is imagined as anthology show (similar to American Horror Story) where every season will have its own story with new characters and cast.
