After the cancellation of the show which seemed rather definite there were rumors that the show will e back for another season but on another channel.
It turns out AMC and Fox Television Studios gave it another chance.
The third season of the show will star again Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman as detectives Linden and Holder. It will feature 12 episodes in which the new case will be resolved.
For the murder of Rosie Larsen it took two season, and even though that disgruntled the fans of the show, I think that it was quite OK considering that only 12 episodes of 45 minutes isn’t enough to develop a story and characters on a level that was done in season 1 and 2. But 12 episodes it is, we already know the detectives at least.
