Only Baz Luhrmann can bring into life the imagination of man who used his imagination to create himself. The Great Gatsby is truly great, visually inspiring with colors and movements and the soundtrack with today’s popular music blends perfectly in the ambient of the 1920s. It’s a fairytale set in the real world of money, deceits, infidelity and love.
The story based on the S. Fitzgerlad’s novel follows the life of Gatsby through the eyes of his new and not so rich neighbor Nick Carraway (Maguire) who wants to be a writer some day. In short time Nick is a witness to the decadence and corruption of the rich, keeping their secrets to himself all the time garnering special respect for Jay Gatsby. Gatsby played by DiCaprio plays a self made millionaire or “new money” who is trying to get in touch with his long lost love Daisy Buchanan (Carey Mulligan) who is now married in wealth. Nick Carraway who is her cousin becomes essential to his mission. Is love unbreakable? Can you repeat the past?
The Great Gatsby just got released on a DVD/BR disks, and it’s the one movie from 2013 for a collection, go get it.
And remember, it was all for her.
