The Congress is a movie set partly in reality and part in a surreal animated world where Robin Wright plays herself as an aged actress that needs a job so she takes one last job that will affect her in ways she couldn’t have imagined. The rest of the cast includes Harvey Keitel, John Hamm, Paul Giamatti and Kodi Smit-McPhee with Sami Gayle as Robin Wright’s children. The movie is based on a short novel by polish sci-fi novelist Stanislaw Lem.
The animation in the movie seems fresh and contemporary, visually inspiring and surreal. The Congress already premiered in Europe, and honestly I can’t wait to see it, I am hoping that this one would be my favorite for 2013. Directed by Ari Folman.
