The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is throughout cinemas since Christmas Day and while the movie isn’t holding any top spots at the box office (those are apparently reserved for Frozen and Smaug) Walter Mitty looks like it’s the critic’s fav choice.
Directed by Ben Stiller who is also playing the main role of Walter Mitty the film transports the audience (as well as the main character) from their everyday life into a world full of adventure and heroism. The point of the film perhaps being that we step away from our screens and be out there for a while. For a story written in 1939 James Thurber was quite the visionary of what life would become. Now don’t take it literary and climb Everest but maybe go for a walk and meet some people from time to time.
Also starring in the movie is Kristen Wiig as Walter Mitty’s love interest.
So do you think that The Secret Life of Walter Mitty deserves a nomination for Best Motion Picture at the Oscars? The competition this year doesn’t seem to hold any blockbusters, except for The Desolation Of Smaug but Peter Jackson’s sequel of the Hobbit doesn’t seem to stand a chance for Best Film. It’s more likely that not so exposed films are in it for the big race this year, like Her or The Book Thief or maybe even the Italian The Best Offer.
