On February 7th premieres George Clooney’s “The Monuments Men” a comedy-drama set during World War II. The Monuments Men is a film about a special platoon consisting of museum curators and art historians from 13 different nations tasked with rescuing the cultural heritage from being destroyed or stolen by the Nazis.
The task force will have to infiltrate behind enemy lines and rescue artistic masterpieces from Nazi thieves.The seven people who have no idea how to handle the battle field wii have to muster courage and use all their knowledge while trying to save some of the most significant art pieces, some old as 1000 years back.

The film is based on the book “The Monuments Men: Allied Heroes, Nazi Thieves and the Greatest Treasure Hunt in History” by Robert Edsel who wrote the book based on true events about the rescue programme of stolen works of art and then returned to their rightful owners.

The Monuments Men is co-written and directed by George Clooney who also plays a character in the movie, also starring are Matt Damon, John Goodman, Bill Murray, Bob Balaban, Jean Dujardin, Hugh Bonneville and Cate Blanchett.
The Monuments Men will have its premiere at the upcoming International Berlin Film Festival on the 8th of February (this Saturday) but out of competition. The Berlinale will start on Feb 6th and end on the 16th.
