The Zero Theorem is an upcoming science fiction movie directed by Terry Gilliam. While watching the trailer below you will notice that it has the same visual quality of Gilliam’s “Brazil” from 1985. Just like Brazil, The Zero Theorem is also set in a retro corpocratic future, the main protagonist is Qohen Leth who is a computer genius and is hoping to discover the reason for human existence. His efforts are constantly interrupted by the “Management” played by Matt Damon whose last interruptions include a beautiful woman named Bainsley (Melanie Thierry) and Management’s teenage son Bob, played by Lucas Hedge.
Did you notice the cut corners? 🙂
Terry Gilliam himself has said that The Zero Theorem is sort of the last part of a trilogy that started with “Brazil” in 1985 and continued with “12 Monkeys” that is also a science fiction set in a rather dystopian future but has the ability to utilize time travel.
Also starring in the movie are Ben Whishaw, Tilda Swinton and David Thewlis. The Zero Theorem has been shown on several film festivals so far, including its 2nd September premiere during the Venice Film Festival in 2013.
I for one, can’t wait to see this.
