Here comes The Huntsman: Winter’s War, the sequel to the 2012 hit movie Snow White and The Huntsman. Only this time, without Kristen Stewart.
Technically this is not a sequel but rather a spin off since in the first movie Snow White was the first titular character and the Huntsman was appended to her name, now The Huntsman is the title character and the movie is dubbed Winter’s War. It is also very likely that the producers are trying to keep distance form the 2012 movie by adding in the trailer “From the producers of Maleficent“.
In the sequel we meet Freya (Emily Blunt), the sister of the evil queen Ravenna and together they will fight the Huntsman, played again by Chris Hemsworth and the warrior woman Sara, played by Jessica Chastain.
Somehow I feel like Emily Blunt would have been a better warrior and Jessica Chastain a better ice queen. The movie also gets a serious Frozen vibe, with Freya being an ice queen.
Plot
When Freya, a young queen who can freeze her enemies in ice, learns of the demise of her sister, the evil Ravenna , she summons her soldiers to recover the Magic Mirror. After resurrecting Ravenna, the two wicked sisters amass a seemingly indestructible army that threatens the kingdom. Only the skills of Eric and Sara, two warriors who defied Freya by falling in love, can save this enchanted land from the forces of darkness.
Cast
Emily Blunt as Freya, Jessica Chastain as Sara, Charlize Theron as Ravenna, Chris Hemsworth as The Huntsman and Sam Claflin as William.
