There’s a rumor buzzing the internets that the ending of the Captain America’s upcoming film Civil War will be “controversial and dramatic” as stated by one of the directors, Joe Russo.
There are many ways this can be interpreted although most expect that the film will follow the comic book storyline in which Captain America dies. That is to say the current Captain America, Steve Rogers dies (in some way) and his good friendĀ Bucky Barnes takes over the understandable shield.
Perhaps another way to interpret the hinted controversial ending is that Steve Rogers doesn’t die and in that way defies the comic books, thus providing an unexpected controversy.
We all have to keep in mind that Chris Evans has already signed a contract to appear in the next Avengers movie, Infinity War Part I. That makes Steve Rogers pretty much alive because all Marvel movies are interconnected, especially Civil War which is practically an Avengers movie.
Our best guess is that Steve Rogers willingly retires from the role and hides from the world, while Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier) covers for him for a while.
