This Friday premiered The Falcon and The Winter Soldier on Disney+. The mini-series stars Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan as the titular characters.
In episode one we only get to see only these two from the main cast, and in later episodes Daniel Bruhl and Emily VanCamp will join them, along with Wyatt Russell.
As far as first episodes go, this was truly an introductory episode. Not many action scenes, except at the beginning and it mostly focuses on the lives of Sam and Bucky.
The first episode is titled “New World Order”, title is directly related with the introduction of the Flag-Smashers ad the series main villain.
The first scene depicts Sam packing Captain America’s shield, ready to give it to a museum.
In the background during this scene there is a voice over dialogue, between Steve and Sam:
-How does it feel?
-Like it’s someone else’s
-It isn’t.
By the sound of Steve’s voice, it seems like this conversation happened when Steve got old, after Endgame events.
Next, it is time for action, Falcon is in pursuit of a terrorist group LAF who have hijacked a plane along with an important member of the US Air Force.
Still in Tunisia, lieutenant Torres is discussing with Sam, about a new terrorist group called the Flag-Smashers.
Back in the USA, Sam is finally giving up the Captain America shield.
Bucky, on the other hand who has been pardoned, is trying to get his life on the right track. He is visiting a therapist, goes on dates, but can’t fight of his past and is keeping close with a man who has lost his son because of him, tortured by what he has done.
-How old are you?
-A hundred and six.
In Europe, the Flag-Smashers are robbing a bank, and lieutenant Torres is there who has been following them online and with an augmented reality app.
Sam goes back to his sister, who is in debt and plans to sell their boat and house. The episode ends on a sad note, Sam and his sister are denied by the bank another load, and to top it all of, in a pres conference the government announces that a new Captain America has been chosen.
